I can see the logic of what you suggest re: blooding of young players etc. with a view to evaluating for the future but if as you suggest “The only thing that matters now is next season” then can you explain the selection of Hackney in the starting X1? Where’s the thinking for next season in that? Would we not benefit from giving Wilson some game time on the right, even given the apparent restrictions re: players frozen out, of those still in favour Feeney could have played a more central role couldn’t he? Hackney, Matheson & Pyke should not be considered for selection going forwards, they offer very little in the immediate and nothing going forwards.
