Hill stated many weeks ago that his focus is the rebuild for next season.
I fully applaud this logical thinking.
Results, at the moment, are of zero consequence. If we lose every game by six – it just doesn’t matter. Let him experiment with what he’s got – especially where the youngsters are concerned.
I refuse to criticise until I see that this incredibly capable manager is unable to make this rebuild work. (Even then … can we pretend that restraints from on high have not stymied him?)
I really detest folks getting on the back of people doing their best in impossible circumstances.
I completely disagree with this. Relegation can happen, it nearly did to us in 2004. Had we gone down that season, I firmly believe we’d have been back within a couple of years, we had a decent squad and good crowds.
What is different this time is that to the fans it appears that since January everyone has just given up on trying to stay up. There have been some appalling performances and results. We hardly ever score goals and we’ve only won 4 games all season. It’s incredibly corrosive and there will be consequences to it, driving away fans, many of whom won’t return perhaps ever. At a time when fans are looking for some rays of light and reasons for hope, the club is offering them nothing. The only thing we’re seeing more of at GP is goons with handcuffs.
What building for next season are we seeing anyway? Playing youngsters who may leave anyway? Getting rid of first-team players who would have been useful next season?
