Loft is exactly the player he was when he arrived. Cox had many faults but perhaps the biggest fault of all was not one player is any better than they were when they arrived at the club.
O’Malley and Watson have improved but I think that was despite Cox rather than because of him.
Loft is half a good centre forward. He has pace and is prepared to make a nuisance of himself. What he could not do (and still cant do) is get the ball under control, bring a midfielder or wide player into the game and get moving into the danger area for the return ball.
Will Hill be able to turn him into a proper centre forward? If he listens and works then I suspect he could. Then he really will be too good for bottome of League 2.
Hill has already made progress in 2 weeks turning Hippolyte into someone that could be a footballer which never looked possible while Cox was here.
