Nail hit on the head NI.

We worked a few promising wide positions in the first half particularly on the right but attempted crosses from Millen and Hippolyte were really poor.

We are never going to get much in from the left playing a hard working Beeston totally out of position.

We didn’t seem to think about the areas where most League 2 open play goals come from i.e. from advanced wide positions. We knew we had lost Gillead and Eisa and we were never going to replace them with the same quality but to not replace them with anybody was a massive error in recruitment.

I assume Cox thought Green and Hippolyte were going to step up to the plate which was a massive error of judgement. They both had enough opportunities last season and delivered virtually nothing between them.

Neither has done anything this season other than demonstrate they are 2 levels above their capability. We have Bunn of course but he seems determined to beat Hallam for treatment table bookings.

The other schoolboy error was to have only Kenyon as a holding midfield player. Out of our other 5 or 6 central midfielders none is equipped to play one of the 2 roles we expect midfielders to play.

Nothing Wood and Hackney have done so far suggests they are better than Beeston, Pugh or Perry but their loan deals seem to suggest they must be in the squad if not the starting line up. WTF?

I know finances dictate recruitment was going to be tough but Cox and Cygnet seem to have made just as big a mess of it as our lord and master used to when he was the one man committee.

Best hope is to play Wilson right and Thompson left until Bunn is fit and get Pugh in the holding position until Kenyon is fit and proves he can move above walking pace.

Shows what shit we are in that putting 3 inexperienced kids into key positions would probably improve the team significantly.
