I don’t think anyone is under the illusion that Loft and Scrimshaw will be a great partnership. Just that they are probably the best pair out of a very inexperienced bunch.

O’Neil looks to be very one paced (speed close to reverse) and Green despite multiple opportunities cannot either control or pass the ball. No idea what Hippolyte’s best position is supposed to be but it is not as a front man. I would rather see Jessop up front gaining some experience than either of those two.

Hence Loft and Scrimshaw are the best of a less than great bunch. Let’s face it if any of our forwards were great they wouldnt be here.

At least Loft and Scrimshaw give centre backs something to think about. They could be smoking cigars when any of the others are playing.

Our biggest problem is we dont have any wide midfield players. All of our current bunch including the loanees seem to want to play centrally. Green and Hippolyte are nominally wide midfielders but see above. I think this is the main reason we are playing 5 at the back. You need width and support for the front men from wide midfielders in a 4-4-2.

Unfortunately 5 at the back only works if you pass out from the back. We play that system and still lump it up to forwards with no great ability in the air or to hold the ball up.

Consequently we have a shit show.
