certainly thought Watson could have done better with goal number 3, in what was a good save, but a poor place to parry it to.
I understand the principle and I appreciate that this is sometimes true but realistically what do you expect a keeper to do in such a position? He has to focus on saving the shot and if it’s powerful like in that case it’s very hard if not impossible to push the ball anywhere else. And if you’re thinking about doing that, you’re more likely to make a mistake with the original save.
The back 4 deserve far more criticism for that goal – Pugh for his miskick and the 24 for failing to follow their centre forward. Taft could/should have also been following in the shot too, looking to stop the rebound.
We know Watson has his failings but there’s no point looking too hard for them.
