I certainly thought Watson could have done better with goal number 3, in what was a good save, but a poor place to parry it to. However, he had no chance with goal number 2.
Regardless, he has been here several seasons now and while it’s too early to tell this time round, his stats in the previous ones are abysmal. Every year we bring a goalkeeper in because he’s not good enough. Every goalkeeper brought in has much better stats than Watson, despite the defence towards Watson that it’s the chumps around him. Watson hasn’t been here during our better years, but the excuse wear thin. Year in, year out, he has poor stats compared to other goalkeepers at the club. There’s only so long people can finger wag at anyone else, surely. He’s not good enough.
He’s not the only problem, and I am not trying to say our defence has been wonderful, but Watson is a problem.
