I think the good things we’ve seen from Loft have nothing to do with him being a target man – whether it’s the crisp finish last night or the backheel assist for KVV at Oldham, the best moments from him have involved getting the ball down on the grass. His aerial ability is pretty limited and it’s starting to look like we’ve not been playing to his strengths all season by booting the ball long up to him.
I disagree about him rarely losing the ball to 1 defender – from what I’ve seen, he often doesn’t even challenge and when he does he is easily beaten in the air. But like I say, I think we are starting to see that that isn’t really his game.
