No but it’ll stop other people from getting it. Wearing a mask shows respect for the people around you, showing you’re prepared to make a minor gesture for the good of others. It’s called ‘society’.
I think Anderson is referring to scarves there. Scarves can be used as a face mask, but they need to be secured tightly around the nose, which is harder to do properly than with a cloth mask with straps for the ears.
