Youth team crash out of FA Cup to Bury

The Iron’s U18s were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup at the second round stage on Tuesday night, losing 4-1 to their Bury counterparts.

United had three great chances in the opening stages but Leslie Sackey couldn’t find the net. He blazed over, before forcing a fine save from Bury keeper John Ruddy.

Minutes later he smashed an effort against the post as the Iron couldn’t take advantage of their early pressure.

The impressive George Miller opened the scoring for Bury, before a Khalid Mohamed goal put Bury into a two goal lead.

Miller notched another two to complete his hat trick in the second half as the visitors ran riot.

Jack Dyche reduced the deficit with moments to go as he slotted into the back of the net from close range.

Bury will take on Fulham in Round 3.
