Welsh first for the boot

Iron winger Andy Welsh has confirmed he has left the club after a season plagued with injuries.

The former Carlisle man appeared just four times in the League and was left out of the squad by boss Ross Wilcox despite his return to fitness towards the end of the campaign.

He wrote on twitter: “Sad to leave Scunthorpe today.

“Some great people and a great club. Such a frustrating season but (sic) happens in football.

“Thanks to the fans. Sorry you didn’t see me a lot on the field but I wish the club all the best”

He becomes the first player to leave Glanford Park this summer.
