One first-team player is a doubt as Scunthorpe prepare to welcome Burton Albion this afternoon, while another is in line for a return ahead of the FA Cup clash.
The Iron come into the tie on the back of their excellent comeback against Oxford United last weekend, which ended in a 3-3 draw. Meanwhile, the Brewers beat Walsall 3-1 in their latest League One outing and lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough U-21s in midweek.
Scunthorpe team news
After Matt Lund and Lee Novak came through the draw with Oxford unscathed, Stuart McCall is expected to once again be able to call upon the experienced duo this afternoon.
Forward Stephen Humphrys has recovered from a hamstring injury and he is likely to be named on the Iron bench ahead of the tie.
However, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is a doubt for the Brewers’ visit, having aggravated his hip problem last weekend. The left-back is likely to be replaced by Lewis Butroid, who impressed off the bench against the U’S.
Elsewhere, the cup tie has come too early for midfielder Funso Ojo but he should be back in the first-team fold before too long.
Alongside Ojo, winger Josh Morris continues to miss out alongside long-term absentees Matt Gilks and Rory Watson.
Burton team news
The Brewers’ injury situation appears to be worse than the Iron’s current predicament, with Nigel Clough waiting on the fitness of several key players.
Ben Turner, Reece Hutchinson, Stephen Quinn, John Brayford, Kyle McFadzean and Scott Fraser are all nursing injuries and could miss the tie.
