Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann told the Iron Bru Podcast that he is hoping for a quartet of early signings in the January transfer window.
Swann revealed that the club are talking to two experienced centre halves and are close to agreeing deals for a further two players ahead of the Coventry City clash on January 5th.
“I would say we have been looking at anywhere between eight and 12 targets since October. I would envisage four signings pretty quick”, Swann said.
“We need a little bit of experience in there and we are talking to two very, very experienced centre halves who look like they are coming at the minute.
“We are still looking at players for the future so you will find that there are a mix of players coming in.
“I think three or four added to this side would probably get us enough points but we still cannot let some of the players go that we think are potentially good for the future – so we need to get those as well.
“Obviously none of those can play on New Years Day, which is a bit of a worry, but they will be available for the Coventry match.
“We are looking at a couple of forwards, a couple of midfielders and three or four defenders. I think that will be enough”.
