Sunderland are leading the race to sign Scunthorpe United’s highly-rated midfelder Hakeeb Adelakun, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests that Scunthorpe want Adelakun to sign a new deal at Glanford Park and are demanding £1million for the 21-year-old player who is out of contact in the summer.

The report suggests Barnsley, Hull and Crystal Palace are also keen on Adelakun, who has become a vital part of the Iron’s attack and scored another goal in the 3-2 win over Blackpool on Boxing Day.
