Southend chasing Mantom and Hopper

Tom Hopper getting on the scoresheet in the derby against Doncaster

League One rivals Southend United are hoping to sign Scunthorpe midfielder Sam Mantom on a permanent deal according to the Southend Echo.

Mantom has one year left on his deal at the Iron – but has struggled to make an impact at Glanford Park since his arrival from Walsall and was loaned out to the Shrimpers in January.

Southend are also said to be keen on Tom Hopper, who was released by the Iron this summer despite scoring nine goals last term.
