Pressley backs Wilcox

The Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has backed Iron boss Russ Wilcox to turn around fortunes at Glanford Park, despite a dismal start to the League One campaign.

Pressley’s side arrive at Glanford Park tomorrow in fine form and will be looking to apply more pressure on Wilcox, who allegedly has two games to save his job.

United fell to a 4-1 defeat at Chesterfield at the weekend, whilst Coventry overcame Yeovil 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena.

“Their manager has done a wonderful job,” Pressley said in his pre match press conference.

“I’m sure he’ll have them ready for this game.

“They had a big setback at the weekend, there’s no doubt about that, but they’ll be wounded, determined to put things right.

“They’ve always been a good home side – they’ve won their last two there – so that’s one thing we’ve got to guard against.

“It’s a great wee stadium. It’s compact and the crowd is very supportive of the team, so that creates a really good atmosphere.”
