Oldham boss: Morris the difference so far

Oldham Athletic manager Steve Robinson has highlighted the Iron’s freescoring winger Josh Morris as the difference between Scunthorpe and Oldham’s contrasting starts to the season.

The hosts currently sit 22nd in League One, having scored just three goals in front of their own fans this term and Robinson believes his squad is a goalscorer short of being a good side.

“They are a good side, Graham will have them playing well and they have got some very good footballers,” he told Oldham’s official site.

“They have one in particular (Morris) who is probably the difference between us and them. He’s got 12/13 goals and that does set teams apart.

“If you can get a 15/20 goal a season striker then you are usually up there and that’s what they have got.”

The Latics’ boss is hoping his side can start to turn around their home form against the Iron, but is expecting a tough task as he welcomes former Preston team mate Graham Alexander and his table topping side to Boundary Park.

“They have got a decent squad and are building a team that have two players in each position and they have got experience in there as well”, he stated.

“In comparison to ours, if you take away Paul Green, Brian Wilson and Peter Clarke, our average age is 22/23 with not loads of league experience which is crucial”.
