Mirfin nearing comeback, but McSheffrey ruled out

Defender David Mirfin is edging closer to a return to the first team squad following a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Mirfin limped off during the 2-1 win at Bury in November.

“He was in the team for a lot of our good games this season and has been a miss for us,” Iron boss Mark Robins told the club’s official website.

“We need him, and everybody, back fit and firing as quick as we possibly can.”

Meanwhile winger Gary McSheffrey has been ruled out for a number of months after undergoing surgery on a knee injury yesterday.

“He had the surgery on Tuesday and will be out for a while,” explained Robins.

“He’s had an issue for the last two or three years, which has just flared up, and we’ve decided that the time was right to operate.”
