McCall believes the Iron need to strengthen in a couple of areas

Scunthorpe United boss Stuart McCall has been speaking to the media about transfers and how he is feeling about his squad ahead of Peterborough United’s visit to Glanford Park on Saturday.

McCall suffered his first defeat as Iron manager last weekend at Luton and has hinted that he may need to strengthen his side in the transfer window:

“We maybe need strengthening in a couple of areas but I know we are a working progress,” he told BBC Radio Humberside.

The Iron boss has alluded to the fact that there is very little between the top sides at this level, with United sitting just four points outside of the playoffs:

“You only have to look at the results on Saturday to see that there in nothing in this league if you put a run together.

“I want to see my team get a grip of the game and on Saturday I thought we looked better in possession and got into some decent areas.

“We were passing with a bit of zest and I felt better by the performance.”

As the Iron prepare to welcome Posh this weekend, McCall is looking for his side to continue their recent good home form:

“We need to make sure we go again on Saturday at home to Peterborough. We need to try and get the three points and keep going upwards.”
