Josh Morris nominated for PFA Player of the Month Award

Scunthorpe midfielder Josh Morris has been nominated for the Bristol Street Motors PFA Player of the Month Award for September.

Morris has been in excellent form since the arrival of new Iron boss Stuart McCall, having weighed in with two goals and four assists throughout the month of September.

Following the departure of fellow attacking midfielders Duane Holmes and Hakeeb Adelakun over the summer, the onus was put on the 27-year-old to step up his game and deliver in their absence. After a slow start to the season, Morris now appears to be hitting close to the form that the United faithful were treated to in his early days in claret and blue.

The wingers’ impact over the last month, played a major part in Scunthorpe’s recent seven-match unbeaten run and journey up into the top half of the League One table. Morris scored two goals in the hard-fought victory away to AFC Wimbledon and superbly contributed with all three assists in the 3-3 draw with Rochdale. He rounded off an impressive month by setting up Lee Novak’s winning goal in the 1-0 triumph over Shrewsbury Town.

The Iron midfielder is joined by former United strikers Billy Kee and Lyle Taylor in being nominated for the award. The rest of the nominees are Doncaster’s John Marquis, Peterborough’s Siriki Dembele and Karlan Ahearne-Grant of Charlton.
