Scunthorpe United target and Preston North End striker Eoin Doyle could miss months of football after suffering a blood clot, according to Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan.

Doyle, who has impressed on loan at League One side Oldham this term, has missed the last couple of games with a mystery injury- which is now suggested to be a serious problem.

It was rumoured that the Iron had tabled a £300,000 bid for the player ahead of the January transfer window, but the club may now have to look elsewhere if his injury setback is confirmed.
