Iron make double loan swoop

Scunthorpe United have bolstered their squad with the loan signings of goalkeeper Jak Alnwick from Rangers and striker Ike Ugbo from Chelsea.

Alnwick will provide some much needed competition for Jonathan Flatt, with Rory Watson ruled out for four months with a broken arm sustained in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Barnsley.

Alnwick’s enjoyed a spell at Port Vale in League One, making 79 appearances in all competitions. He then switched to Scottish Premier League giants Rangers for an undisclosed fee in January 2017 and has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Gers.

Ugbo (19) enjoyed loan spells at Barnsley in the Championship and MK Dons in League One last season.

He has also represented England at Under-17 and Under-20 level.
