The latest poll has revealed that 78% of over 600 respondents will boycott the Iron’s EFL Trophy games next season.

46% of readers said they would boycott all EFL Trophy games, whilst a further 32% admitted they would not attend matches against Premier League U21 sides.

Just 15% of readers said they would attend as normal, whilst 6% were undecided.

The results follow the Iron’s Chief Executive Jim Rodwell admitting he was excited by the Trophy’s revamp.

“This is the Football League innovating once again”, he told the club’s official website.

“I’m quite excited about it – we at Scunthorpe United voted for it on the basis that it’s a one-year pilot and we’ll go from there.”
