Scunthorpe boss Nick Daws has confirmed that the club have agreed terms with an attack minded player and hope to conclude a deal once the player has returned from holiday next week.
The Iron have agreed a fee with his parent club and the transfer will be finalised subject to a medical.
“We have been in discussions over the last week with a player”, Daws told BBC Radio Humberside.
“We’ve agreed terms and we’ve agreed terms with his parent club. That’s subject to the player returning from holiday and passing a medical.
“We are pleased to have hopefully secured that arrival.
“He is an attack minded player. He plays in behind the striker and can play in any of the three positions in behind the striker.
“When it’s announced it will be an interesting one for supporters.”
Things are likely to step up in terms of player recruitment following the conclusion of Royal Ascot, where Iron chairman Peter Swann runs four horses. Meanwhile Daws admitted the club were resigned to losing winger Hakeeb Adelakun and defender Murray Wallace, with the latter expected to join Championship side Millwall this week.
“Hakeeb has had a contract offer on the table for a considerable length of time. He has chosen to reject that offer and we fully expect that Hakeeb will be with another club come the start of pre season.
“From our point of view, we have got significant compensation rights so wherever he goes they will have to pay a fee for him and we are protected by that. We have invested a hell of a lot of time in his development. There’s nothing we can do about it and we will move on.”
