Scunthorpe boss Paul Hurst has admitted he would like to bolster his squad with a further three additions before the start of the season.
The Iron have already secured five new signings ahead of the new campaign, with returning defender Andy Butler joining Kgosi Ntlhe, Jake Eastwood, Yann Songo’o and Alex Gilliead at Glanford Park.
However Hurst has revealed he is not completely satisfied with the squad at his disposal and hoped to be able to shape the squad further ahead of the season opener with Swindon on August 3rd.
Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside ahead of the Iron’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Premier League side Leicester, Hurst revealed: “We are not where I would like us to be at this moment in time, although we are making steady progress.
“I think we still need at least another three and possibly more if there is any change in the squad or injuries.
“I’m on to the chairman and trying to move things, but we have got to be conscious of the budget and if people have to go out, that’s something that we will look at as well”.
Elsewhere the Iron have been boosted as Ryan Colclough looks set to return to full training on Wednesday as he steps up his rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament injury. Hurst confirmed that he would not be available for the season opener against Swindon, but was making good progress.
