Collins & Hayes depart

The Iron have decided against offering club legend Paul Hayes a new deal at the club and have also released club captain Michael Collins.

Hayes, who returned in January, has been a bit part player since returning under Russ Wilcox.

He capped his emotional return with a wonder goal at Mansfield, instantly reaffirming his position as a fans favourite. He has taken to twitter tonight to reveal he is “gutted” by the news.

Collins enjoyed a loan spell at Wimbledon this term, but returned to play a part in the closing stages of the season following an injury to Sean McAlister.

Following Hayes and Collins out the exit door are Etienne Esajas, Connor Jennings, George Grayson and Jamie Wooton. They join Christian Ribeiro and Andy Welsh, who were released earlier today.
