Pugh may well be the lowest waged player in the squad.
It was a bit more scrappy than Tuesday. I reckon that with Clunan in – we really would have made double figures.
Interesting to know what the prior agreed fee for Smith is should we want to keep him.Harrumph! What just happened?
Didn’t need it yesterday.
What I usually do these days is to use: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/national-league
Scroll down and there is (usually) a photo of a broadcasting unit and caption. Click on that and you are up to your eyes in commentaries from across the nation. He has not exactly shone for a 30 goal a season striker.
Add Callum Roberts to this and I’ll really be licking my lips.
He’s one of four injured players back in training and soon to be match fit.
Several others are already on the point of fighting to get into the squad.
If we are to battle for the title, clearly fitness is going to be our principal concern.
Thanks, TJO. On the telly you don’t see all these little touches that Clunan brings.
Happily, shall be able to watch live on Saturday.Oh, Ollie.
How much I appreciated you last night – and we even had Humberside commentary matched to the TV coverage.
Sense from Torps. Smile.
Please can Ollie cover away games too? – No seriously, can this please become the plan?
Only problem was the lack of a replay facility.I was delighted that Smith played. Saw at Alfreton what he could do and then within a match or two he became the forgotten man. Jenkins is fine but Smith is a notch above.
What is it about Clunan?
He is clearly a very skilful CM and leader. He is intelligent. But how come he is SO effective?
Just having him on the pitch and everyone else is suddenly: passing better; moving more quickly; actively looking for space; pressing forward.
The Clunan Factor seems to be far greater than the sum of its parts.Phew. We actually got commentary online AND Ollie and Torps were decent!
Survival and playoffs would do for me, this season.
We saw what JD could do with his full squad (Less Roberts). That was well good enough.
So what has changed?
Er … injury lists?
Why not just look at the most obvious answer. Clearly, JD can manage a decent squad but struggles with a badly diminished one.
There aren’t many managers who can do better in such situations.Every few seasons back in the 60s and early 70s there’d be a tannoy call for a qualified ref to run the line. It was not considered unusual back then.
My good buddy Trev Wells did it in one game, I recall. My first impressions on Wishart were that, once he learned names and got used to the team, he’d be good.
I was wrong – monumentally wrong, CT.
I often had no clue as to which goal was being attacked!
As I have written on more than a few school reports over years – Must do better!1 user thanked author for this post.
Yes. No names but a player on loan from Leeds …
True.
Desperately missing Clunan and Beestin.
Callum Roberts. Might be nice to see him once or twice before New Year. It’s only ever us.
Humberside are starting to make me paranoid! But Braveheart should not have worn tartan – as it hadn’t been invented.
Almost as bad as all that woad which hadn’t been in use for over 500 years.
(My Kinross Pictish roots are showing through here.)Good thinking, BS.
In an ideal world the £3million would be reduced by negotiation; would attract grants and donations from businesses; donations from fans – (I’ll personally scrape a grand together and will miss out on a planned holiday.)
To get the lowest % on a bank loan – guarantors become vital. If we can find, say, 6 people prepared to underwrite £250,000 to £350 thousand each on the actual loan we might just get something at under 6%.
Monthly, that should be extremely manageable.2 users thanked author for this post.
I fully grasp that without other debts having been cleared first this would be difficult.
Who on Bru knows about this kind of stuff? There will surely have to be loans/mortgages to be investigated.
After a very brief troll across the net – it seems that the interest from a traditional bank business loan on property is between 2% and 13%. We would have solid property so would be well able to keep clear of the many financial sharks out there.
I think that we could aim to get plenty less than 10%.
I reckon that less than the famed £20k per month might be possible to feed the loan.Just dashed this off. Please point out the flaws coz I’ve not been involved in anything like this since 1975. I may be a tad off beam.
Who is in the know about such matters?1 user thanked author for this post.
Was Hilton right about the % of budget not being spent on footballers?
Let it go, NI – you’ll feel better for it.
I learned pretty early on that Hilton was bad news. I still lent him my support as, at the time, I could see no alternative other than liquidation.
(It turns out though that there was an alternative – yipppeeee!)
What else could Simon have done and still kept informed about the situation?
The guy loves the Iron as much as anyone who posts on Bru. There really is no need to have some people vilifying him.Why indeed?

We need to keep both the stadium AND the current team.
It’s a very big ask.4 users thanked author for this post.

Sorry, CMC – it just doesn’t scan.
Can only be ‘Chrissy Plummer’s Claret and Blue Army!’

All is well – provided MH doesn’t promise us a new ground.

Correct WG.
Almost impossible to have a working defence when you have two CBs who are having their first starts of the season AND have never played together.2 users thanked author for this post.
