Baffling, no matter which country you live in.
‘It’s all kicking off Pru!!!’ Thanks to Michelle, the Board and every supporter for keeping us out of this Counties level sort of thing fiasco:

I’d say less a feret, more a brown tennis ball IFA. You read much Irvine Welsh?
Yes, me too. Be interesting to see how it materialises against what they’ve posted.
From what I read on there, if you explicitly say you’re against Dean having his contract renewed more than some like, you’re hassled, ridiculed and insulted. Not too far off how anyone who spoke up about Hilton was, only not quite as bad. Yet.

Yes, noticed those, particularly the ones that intimate a future with the club. Is that reading too much in to it though?
Maybe he’ll do a few more dots? Joining them up will give us the meaning of life?
We are but a mere speck in the universe?
I don’t agree with anything you’ve posted there awaywego, you won’t be surprised to hear!

Totally agree with the point above NI though what he actually said was ‘it’s Scanforp United mate’. That’s not a criticism, but it’s true.
‘Even Burney would have got us into the play-offs’
And he’d have pissed league!

Smaller squad shouldn’t be an issue if they’re coached well and avoid as many injuries.
What is ‘Jimmyball’? Is it some aspirational tippy tippy stuff trying to emulate the likes of Man City? The exact fare Gurney is saying we’re spoilt with? The one up front dogged formation? Similar emulating?
DM – ‘goals and points don’t tell the full story? If you want a winning team they’re the most important elements of it. Never mind the moaning about ‘chopping and changing’, the ‘awful substitutions’, the ‘terrified of losing’ etc. etc. mentioned above. The stats and table don’t lie.’
Disagree with most of that.
‘What do you want, lose a thrilling match 3-4 each week and and flirt with relegation?’
What some supporters would prefer has been well rehearsed. But no, I don’t want that.
‘Everyone wants an entertaining side, but once again, this is NLN, and it’s often not pretty. Then again, football often isn’t. Maybe we get spoiled by the amount of elite footy on tv, especially the highlights which cut out the boring bits.’
You may get spoilt with it, I don’t. I watch the elite level, our level and right down to step 9, often, so I wouldn’t personally say I’m spoilt.
‘Sanfran is right about fickle, moaning supporters. But look, all fans suffer. It’s part of the game. And as in football, so in life. The religiously persuaded might think of it as a test of endurance, which He allows us to suffer as part of the trials of life, to humble us and make us more like Him. Those above, so quick to chuck in the towel, turn their backs and run, should pause a moment for reflection and have a quiet word with their spiritual guardians, not least themselves.’
If you want to bring religion on to it as well as Brexit, as you did the other day, that’s your call. Personally I think it’s a tight shoehorn.
I certainly don’t disagree with any of the above criticisms and am fully aware of past indiscretions. Though I’d be more interested in hearing Michelle’s opinion of him and why she wants him on the Board, because it appears she does. There are many people made mistakes during the Swann and Hilton eras. Just looking at it from a ‘unity’ perspective and backing the owner, parking the recriminations and moving forward. Some want Elliot gone and are quite clear about that. I’m saying if Michelle wants him around, that’s good enough for me. Anyhow, just a response to IFAs post really, and numerous criticisms past and present, which I appreciate are totally valid.
Or maybe not, I don’t know? I’m not his greatest fan by any means, just giving an honest opinion. If others don’t concur I fully appreciate it.
May 1, 2024 at 8:59 am in reply to: Yet another…’what have you been listening today?’ Thread #284982This might be unpopular, but if he’s providing non-financial support that’s much appreciated by Michelle, maybe cut him some slack? I certainly think he made some big mistakes during the Hilton nightmare but being a good Director isn’t just about the cash you inject in to the organisation.
I’ll duck now…

Macc currently 3 up
Were the players in those teams we struggled against a better quality than ours? By and large I’m pretty sure they weren’t. So why weren’t we beating those sides, or at least putting a performance in? Can’t just keep blaming parking the bus and refereeing. Wouldn’t have expected to be thrashing them like we did to the really poor sides but it happened too often. I will shut up about this subject now because I don’t want to come across as lobbying, I’m just scratching my head and trying to work out the logic beyond sentimentality, gratitude and not being seen to be heartless and a ‘sacking club’

‘Finished second and scored 84 – best in the league. Goal difference – 46 best in the league. Went out on a playoff penalty.’
Personally, I don’t think these ‘more important’ numbers tell the full story Gurney. Taking them in isolation masks a lot of negative aspects already well rehearsed on this thread and others.
‘Fans have such short memories, but just think back. At the start of the season when the club’s very survival was in doubt, would anyone on here have thought those numbers unacceptable? Would anyone on here possessed of their faculties have thought they would be grounds for managerial renewal?’
I don’t think it’s healthy or wise to live in the past or view it from an earlier time. We are where we are, in the here and now with the future to think about carefully and strategically. That said, the Board will decide and I’m happy to support it. Just opinions and if he stays who knows, he may just succeed?

You were on a Chester site? Living the dream eh?
Can’t be having a manager on a rolling monthly basis full stop. Madness.

Minimalist coding?
Lol, saw this OP earlier. Couldn’t open it and thought there was a glitch. Just noticed the tiny full stop enabling me to open it. Did you censor yourself bpg?
It is a hard stance from Rene but everyone has their own thoughts.
But we go to get entertained!
Didn’t hear many folk stating that what was served on Saturday as entertainment.
Just like a restaurant serves up poor food do you still go?Oh aye. Anyone that chose not to go has to be respected. Not suggesting otherwise. I don’t view it like going to a restaurant though. I’d have stopped going altogether around ’80 had that been the case.

An extreme stance Rene. Should Dean still be in charge I hope you reconsider and attend in spite of him and for the ģreater good, which is supporting the club finally under good ownership. If I didn’t live so far away I can honestly say I’d be purchasing a season ticket. Not point scoring here, I just know I would as gratitude to everyone who’s helped save the club, if nothing else.
