Kartal, all 5ft 4” of her progresses to the 4th round.
She ain’t got your traditional female tennis players physique.
Norrie plays the Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry in R4.
Both turn 30 this year but have only clashed on one previous occasion, which was way back in 2018.
Jarry won that match in Miami: 7-6, 6-2
Norrie will play either Alcaraz or Rublev in the QF if he secures the win.
Norrie has been excellent in his Wimbledon matches so far, hope he has a good run, Djokovic so far has looked the better of the top players in the men’s draw, can he win it again at 38?
That’s that then.
Kartal looks like she could go on to make a name for herself in the coming year or so.
Think she needs to beef her first serve up a bit but overall a very good player, some of her cross court passing strokes are very accurate and she is super fit and fast, yep looks a good prospect for future success.
I realise Djokovic wasn’t 100% fit in the semi final but the way Sinner dismantled the greatest player ever in just three sets was hugely impressive. All the makings of a classic final but Alcaraz has been the more inconsistent of the two despite being brilliant, I’ll go Sinner in 4 or 5 sets
Sinner about to serve for the match.
Italy 3-1 Spain
He’s like Spiderman of tennis!
Completely deserved IMO, after a close first set Sinner completely shut Alcaraz out the game with his superior tactics, probably the hardest a tennis ball has ever been hit on centre court, really riveting stuff. Alcaraz showed his vulnerability at times under pressure and Sinner is a polite, charming incredible tennis player, a credit to professional tennis.
Yeah, good match. Sinner really turned the screw after the first set. Some player. Both top professionals and a credit to the sport. Excellent.
