    On Saturday against Southend am I right in thinking we had three players in the squad who started here and came through the youth ranks, it must be a while since that has happened before.

    If so they all left us before getting pro deals.

    Would they have developed into the same players that they are now if the academy/U18s hadn’t been disbanded?

    They were all shown the door or sold before the Academy was terminated.
    I think TSF was in the senior year of the last batch of U18s and completed his Apprenticeship by the end of its last full year.
    If memory serves, it was closed at the beginning of the following season.

    The nutshell answer is: Yes
    Reason: Sold / Released before it was closed. In Dec’s case… 12 years earlier.
