Ironawe just mentioned it on another thread.

Expectations everyone and what’s acceptable after the first ten.

Should be easy for Butler to achieve for me, mid table ish and not looking like we’ll be in a relegation battle.

Really hoping we’ll be up there challenging for `playoffs, more than happy with his forward recruitment got to take the risks with the likes of Howe and Dawson i understand that, not so happy at the back but heho, let battle commense.

Mid-table mediocrity will do me this season. Think we have the firepower to cause teams problems but the goalkeeper situation and lack of midfield general/right back (hopefully gets sorted soon) does really worry me.

Looking at the fixtures, it’s a difficult opening 10 games.
I have a points figure in mind but don’t want to appear to be too negative.

I think any promotion is followed by trepidation because we just don’t know how we will do in a higher standard and facing that standard having just lost a very good goalkeeper is understandable amongst some fans but hey guys that’s the challenge. In AB I believe we have a good young manager who is the first to admit he’s learning as he goes along and I think the majority accept that. We are here because of our current budget which is in place after previous years of living beyond our means and almost losing our football club in the process. We always knew it would be a long road back, we are where we are and we exist on the budget required to keep us alive, let’s just get behind the team and try to enjoy the ride, we still have a football club to follow never forget what we almost lost.

First 10 games in 2024-25 of the newly promoted teams:

    Tamworth 14pts
    Yeovil 13pts
    Boston 9pts
    Braintree 7pts

    I’m thinking 9pts for us.
Hopefully I’m very wrong and we tally double that figure.

Extrapolate and we need to be averaging over a point a game from first ten, I reckon 3 wins 4 draws losses

Win the home games. Make AAGP the fortress it was last season.

This first 10 game’s acceptability is meaningless, it’s just a build up to criticism if they haven’t got X points.
I’m pretty sure we’ve been relegation zone after 10 games and then gone on to get promoted.
Equally we’ve been top and then fallen away.
I’m not as concerned with the goal keeper as BLT who will take mid table, yet I actually think we will be around the playoffs at the end of the season.
Tamworth away is horrible opener though, they could probably finish third in a champions league group just getting 0-0s.

Most of the threads are meaningless on all forums, time to shut all forums down.

On this thread it’s swings and roundabouts on what will make us happy or not, set mine out and why shouldn’t we criticize if they fail them and in the same breath praise if they exceed them, it’s close season and the manager is assembling the squad and already praised him for his forward recruitment should we not comment on them because it’s meaningless? No of course not it’s a footy forum maybe it’s not for you TJO, have you thought of watching grass grow or watching paint dry.

The Move watched the grass grow in 1967 and it made them a nice amount of money.

Cheers Ironawe, life’s an education, not really into music but vaguely remember the Move, but the song never heard of it. (Will have a listen now)
I try and keep off the subject after telling Deerey that the song, “There is a light that never goes out” was a song by the Smiths lol.
Really like that song now though and was great to almost sing along with pre Chester game.

The Move were a Birmingham based band in the sixties and three of them went on to form ELO but Roy Wood left after a couple of years to form Wizzard and return more to his rock routes. Jeff Lynn and Bev Bevan along with the classical musicians who were part of the ELO line up went on to fame and fortune, the rest as they say is history. Roy Wood still tours with his latest band and is one of the top modern day musicians this country has produced in the last 60 years, very talented guy.

14 points and no stupid formations.

Also expect players to be able to pass the ball to each other consistently.

Well even exceeded my expectations, well done Butler and the team there’s no reason we can’t keep it going, said before I liked the recruitment, even more so with Tyler scoring, and there was me thinking Howe should have started instead.

You mean Tyrell, but I would say he’s looked more effective when he’s come on than Howe the last few games before today. Get that loan extended.

Ten games unbeaten (11 really) going into October.

Any stattos out there know if this is our longest unbeaten run at the start of a season? Only managed nine last season.

Think they mentioned on Humberside it’s equalled our longest unbeaten start to a season which was back in the 1930’s!

Good management from AB he’s mentioned before that with Howe now a full time professional he’s aware his fitness and game time particularly games so close together need managing properly ,can’t really fault AB so far this season he seems bang on the money with most things SUFC so far IMO.

    22 points.

Say we are staying up, say we are staying up!

Delighted if we end up in a play off spot at season’s end.
