Aldershot v Spennymoor… Looked like two teams largely cancelling each other out until one got a proper hold of the game. Superb third goal to seal it – one to rival (or perhaps better) Tony Daws 1992.

Shrimpton… It was really pleasing to see him out there and playing, but he looked like another Scales or Rowley to me. Decent but not quite enough imposing himself on the game and not quite enough forward intent going on.

Disclaimer: Shrimpton’s performance could have been entirely down to the way Spennymoor were set up to play. He’s clearly a decent footballer but I would just like to see him with more aggressive intent (same as I would like to see Scales and Rowley with the same).

Interesting to see Kai Corbett playing for Aldershot, he’s out of contract now.

He was also reasonable enough, though a little anonymous.

    I liked him.

Me too in general. I was talking about yesterday’s match, though.

Shrimpton played as well as any other Moors players and better than a few.

If the lad hadn’t missed the best chance of the first half that Shrimpton created and put on a plate for him the outcome might have been different.

Kai Corbett was probably Shots most creative player once he came on but you have to wonder why he was a sub in a middling to poor National League side.

I thought he was ok (he had a moment or two) but in general was a little bit anonymous, to be honest.
