Thankfully this government has once again been stopped from subverting the law for political reasons and playing to the crowdJuly 19, 2020 at 4:03 pm #185611
Yes and apparently your hero Starmer ‘led the charge’. I’m surprised the Mail found space for this story in between the constant fawning over the royals.July 19, 2020 at 4:58 pm #185615Iron-aweParticipantOffline

Yes despite people’s opinions of Begum running off abroad to join Isis, the removal of her citizenship was illegal I believe I’m correct in saying. We should stick to the rules not play to the crowd if we are to do the right thing.July 19, 2020 at 9:19 pm #185620TwoWrightsParticipantOffline

The highest court in the land has yet to rule on the legality of stripping her of British citizenship.
It’s our time.July 20, 2020 at 11:18 am #185631Lord KitchenerParticipantOffline

This woman is dangerous, and would just add to the long long list of threats that MI5 seem incapable of watching.
For the sake of national security she must never be allowed to set foot on British ground again, not ever.July 20, 2020 at 11:37 am #185633

One could argue that M15 are better poised to watch her if she is in this country!July 20, 2020 at 1:03 pm #185640

Begum is British and is therefore our responsibility to bring justice to. We can’t have people disowned by the state and left in limbo because their actions are not becoming of an ideal British citizen, or human being for that matter. Criminals deserve to have a fair hearing, and that includes the nigh on certainly guilty. We can’t judge a suitable punishment for Begum unless she’s had a fair hearing through the legal system of the UK, which is her home country, and as such she should be a British citizen. It’s the height of cowardice from the state to just palm her off as someone else’s problem because it scores well with rhetoric about being tough on terror.
None of this means I have any sympathy with Begum’s actions, when she was at an age to know better and got herself tied up with an Islamic death cult which stands against every liberal and socially democratic value I hold dear.July 21, 2020 at 11:58 am #185706Pat O’CakeParticipantOffline

Agree with pretty much every post on here, no matter what any of us think of her the law is the law and we cannot pick and choose who and when it applies.
