Rory has had an awesome first half. Looks a lot better keeper than the one I remember.
    Keep it going, that man!

Not helped by his team mates who were the only 10 people on the planet not expecting a far post cross.

    Edible hat for wondergoals?

Unfair comment .. he was excellent .. how about the ridiculous Ubo pass that led to the free kick that they equalized from WTF was he thinking of ? .. much prefer Rory in goal then MC .

How’s it unfair? It was a jibe at his harshest critic on here. As in ‘wondergoals will be eating his hat watching such a fine performance from Rory’.

I maybe spoke too soon though

My comment was a little tongue in cheek but it was a flap at a ball professional goalkeepers would expect to collect 99 times out of 100.

Having 3 FGR players bearing down on him with no Iron players in the same postcode probably played a part.

On a serious note Rory has been pretty dammed good in his 3 games and I’m disappointed for him not in him. Shame that an otherwise great performance didn’t end in a clean sheet. Who would be a goalkeeper.

Such a good performance from him up until the final seconds of the game. Everyone on the terrace knew exactly what was about to happen as soon as Carlton played that hospital pass and they got a free kick. Back post again olé olé!

Man of the match. He was let down by the team falling deeper and deeper and losing possession so easily in the final half hour

Seeing the goal, you would have needed a bigger keeper than Rory to have got a better contact on that goal, their player had a free header, so to me can’t put any blame on Rory when again we put pressure on ourselves instead have trying to get the ball in their half of the pitch

Agreed. This season’s microscopic focus on our goalkeepers is misguided but there’s supporters out there still desperate to be proven right about them being the reason we’re not world beaters

Wasn’t the howler I was expecting; Was right on the tip of his fingers but a ball you’d still expect him to claim. Hopefully it doesn’t wreck his confidence as he’s looked the part since stepping in.

I wonder how Fitz is feeling – back in the league, assume well paid but on the bench game after game.

You haven’t needed a microscope on the goalies, very clear to see and some have been howlers. Not misguided just opinions on them, are they fair? I think so.
    Does our opinion matter, no.
We’re all not like you and the likes of 64 who want to be proven right. Its you sowing the division by your post.
You know my feelings on Rory but i gave à like to this post at halftime when lesgeo said hed had an awesome first half.
We’ll see whether our judgement on whether Campbell was a fit choice to be our number 1 in the future on whether he plays him or not, it will then be proven one way or another. I will not take pleasure if he isn’t.

So what you’re really saying is, I shouldn’t have an opinion, unless I agree with yiu. Righto.

    Certainly not.
But I do question your superior opinion that other posters are misguided.

It’s called an observation awaywego. No more superior than any other observations, contrary to what I think or not. Seems I’m not alone in my thinking though. As for creating division in my post, the division is inherent in your own:

‘We’re all not like you and the likes of 64 who want to be proven right.’

Not sure why you would deliberately set up an ‘us and them’ situation that doesn’t exist. Hangover?

What I saw of the match on the highlights,Rory was magnificent. Thought he was slightly unlucky with the goal,it’s strange trajectory caught him out. Agree he was gutted as Andrew Boyce stated, but should be pleased he performed so well.

He was brilliant and kept us in the game, especially the first half. Deserved chants of “Rory Rory Watson” at multiple points throughout the game. Clearly distraught at the end, being consoled by FGR players which I thought was a nice touch on their part. If he didn’t fumble that at the end it probably would have been the best goalkeeping performance I’ve seen since his heroics at home vs Carlisle in 2020.

I definitely had a grumble when we brought him back but he’s looked the part so far and long may it continue.

GK not the issue for their goal but there 3 players left unmarked as it was headed back across goal. Poor defending not poor goalkeeping. We need better outlets if are to defend that deep.
