7 wins/2 draws this season, 8 (89%) of which came playing a pretty much standard 4-4-2 (if you class Van Veen, McAtee or Hallam as the second striker).
So that’s right, one solitary game has yielded points this season playing any other formation. This was against Walsall where you could perhaps argue Jake Taylor was the second striker but I’m not going to as I don’t think I ever saw him step foot inside the penalty area.
Mr. Cox, if you go with anything other than 2 up top against the Cods this weekend then you really should hang up your clipboard.

January 20, 2021 at 10:59 am #201343Good stat, very telling. I expect Cox to see this and have Loft even more isolated
January 20, 2021 at 11:30 am #201344We will be very cautious on Saturday not wanting to lose, so we will have to see what happens next.
January 20, 2021 at 12:50 pm #201349Speaking of Walsall, I see they’ve taken Frank Vincent on loan.
Bournemouth must think he’s got a better chance of developing there.
January 20, 2021 at 1:15 pm #2013511 up top at home in a derby game would be a criminal offence and contract termination has to follow.
4 4 2 has to be the way to go. Put players in a comfortable formation and things become automatic. Have to be on the front foot from 1st minute, no slowly getting into the game etc, etc. Paul Hurst will have his team in charge formation.

January 20, 2021 at 1:44 pm #201352Any chance of getting the new striker we keep hearing about before the Cods match ?
January 20, 2021 at 2:33 pm #201359No – he won’t be fit for a few weeks yet says Mr S.

Not if that’s what the man who picks the team decides.
January 20, 2021 at 2:36 pm #201361Well Swanny did confirm that we’re getting a new striker…and his name is Kevin Van Veen. Doubt he’ll be ready for this weekend though.
January 20, 2021 at 2:38 pm #201362Its not like we haven’t signed injured players in the past.
January 20, 2021 at 5:00 pm #201371My money says KVV will be on the bench on Saturday.
January 20, 2021 at 5:02 pm #201372And on the treatment table on Sunday!
January 20, 2021 at 6:59 pm #201378On the bench to keep the opposition guessing – Fair enough.
Any minutes at all on the pitch – Definitely not!!January 20, 2021 at 7:08 pm #201380Well Cox said last week that he won’t be fully fit until end of February. I’d rather wait until he get’s his fitness up, instead of rushing him back early and have him crocked for the rest of the season.
Where is this new striker then…has he gotten lost ?
January 20, 2021 at 8:35 pm #201388Listening to Mr Swann I got the inference that KVV will be back before what Cox has stated so I expect he will be on the bench Saturday even if it is just a tactical ploy.
