Butler spoke confidently last week about two new players coming in, but the tone has since changed. Butler was asked pre match interview today about potential arrivals and seemed to distance himself from any potential incomings “saying he was very happy with the squad and what he currently has”
Maybe nothing in it, but last week he was quite bullish when asked about players coming in and now asked the energy seemed to have completely changed.
Butler perhaps got carried away last week in regard to league players lowering their expectations to potentially join us. Maybe those players won’t drop their demands far enough down to fit the wage budget?
September 24, 2025 at 10:42 am #311528I suspect (guess) that 2 coming in is dependent on 2 going out first.
It’s possible that ending Eze’s loan is proving a problem (although it’s no good for Bolton if he isn’t playing) and we’re having trouble finding a home for any others.September 24, 2025 at 2:05 pm #311533Could imagine looking for 3/4 out for 2 in.
September 24, 2025 at 2:05 pm #311534It appears that something has changed. If that is indeed the case that we’re having difficulty moving players out, why come out so bullishly talking up the fact we’re to sign two more players if we weren’t sure what clubs the players where moving on are even going to ?
You would have thought they would have set deals up for them going out first before coming out and saying anything about players coming in.

Is that what it was? I thought Butler said they were looking at or hoping to sign two new players. Also, maybe there’s been a hitch or hold up. It does happen you know. It’s not fantasy football.

September 25, 2025 at 1:27 am #311555When asked he said he was looking to sign two players and was quite enthusiastic and came across as certain. Butler was asked the same question about a week later came across as hesitant and quite dismissive. Butler in a sense tried batting the question away saying he was 100% happy with the squad and that it was strong.
Also made a comment again post Southend crowing about the squad strength. Maybe I’m looking too much in to it, but it does seem to me the energy has changed in regards to players coming in.
Deerey at his condescending best. Thank you for reminding this is real football and not fantasy. I needed reminding after forgetting seeing men running around a badly cut up pitch, whilst battling to pass and kick a ball of air.
