I’d let go of Fishburn, Jason Law, Mark Beck, Shrimpton and Boyce. Mo will obviously be going back to York.
Agree ?
If we can keep hold of Fitz, Max, evans, Beestin, Clunan and Whitehall. I think we’ll be solid enough next season to do fairly well. We’ll need players mostly for squad depth next season. Another RB will need bringing in, would you be against Rose coming back on a season long loan ?
May 19, 2025 at 1:05 pm #304711We ain’t keeping hold of Fitz. I think a deal has already been done.
Is Clunan too lightweight for NLP? I would argue that we need a bit of steel in midfield next season.
Happy to keep Maxi, Evans and Alfie plus another experienced CB. Will be an interesting couple of months ahead.
May 19, 2025 at 1:13 pm #304713What we could really do with is a really experienced midfielder, who has been there and done it all. A couple of younger guys to add energy, and some squad players with NL experience.
I can see Robertson and Whitehall scoring regularly enough if they get support. UTI
May 19, 2025 at 1:32 pm #304716Very glad that Evans is still under contract, was my 2nd vote for player of the season after Roberts.
I’d want to keep Fitz, Maxi, Denton (very underrated IMO!), Clunan (although agree I think we need an experienced, hard as nails bit of steel in the midfield next season), Rowley, Roberts, Whitehall, Carlton.
The rest I ain’t too bothered about.
May 19, 2025 at 5:14 pm #304756How can you let Beck go when he signed an 18 month contract, can’t imagine some other numpty coming in for him can you.
May 19, 2025 at 5:33 pm #304759We need a CM who is, indeed, hard as nails and also has a bit of height. We must be able to win balls in the air.
Want to keep our 3 best forwards – GK – yes if …May 19, 2025 at 5:44 pm #304760reading SM its looks like Cal Roberts has played his last game for Scunny and Fitz already has a deal lined up, as mentioned on another thread we need to cherry pick a few stand out NLN players to come in and blend with whats left from this bunch when the dust settles .. lots of talk about the likes of Billy Sharp n Ryan Colclough and others being tempted back but just cant see the budget allowing such signings even if these players wanted to return… time will tell and hopefully some new mega bucks investor might be found WHO KNOWS.
May 19, 2025 at 8:04 pm #304780Evans has been my stand-out.
Clunan maybe not everyone’s Cup of tea but he does put some effort in and seems to get the boys going. Just need a meaty tackler with him that we have stated numerous times.
Fitz he’s okay but won’t be too disheartened if he goes, theres better to be had.
If we can keep Cal Roberts, Whitehall and Carlton that would be decent enough still to get us mid table in NL I’d of thought.
I like Beestin, he gives his all and was absolutely shot yesterday. Keep
Keep Denton,Maxi and Rowley. Sign Mo as he’s a rough diamond if York want rid.
Beck we are stuck with.
Are Burrows and Kelly good enough for the next step?Let go of Fish,Boyce,Law and Shrimpton
May 19, 2025 at 8:12 pm #304784I think at least 7/8 to go. I would keep Fin and make him the midfield stopper and coach the role into him. Are some of those others wish to keep fast enough for National League. Need to improve pace in the squad and that basic of skills – PASSING because it has been poor yet again.

May 19, 2025 at 8:16 pm #304785Gareth on IronArmy wished Fitz all the best in his career after his short interview on the pitch after yesterday’s match, he’s going and has been for awhile, wish him all the best and thank him for all those clean sheets.
May 19, 2025 at 8:19 pm #304788I would keep Fin and make him the midfield stopper and coach the role into him
Coach it into him ?. Shrimpton hasn’t got the size, physicality or bite to play that role.

May 19, 2025 at 8:22 pm #304790Who is actually under contract for next season do we know for sure?
May 20, 2025 at 4:29 am #304828There has to be an addition of pace.
May 20, 2025 at 6:21 am #304830No chance of watching the game but thank the lord for HR which was an excellent unbroken service
ive just had my crystal ball repaired after it advised me incorrectly re the Chester score, it seems to be back working as it did say i would have a hangover Monday which was spent recovering watching the many YT vlogs and highlights of this momentous occasion.
Here is where it gets tricky who will stay or go and can we build a squad that can stay up in the NL next season .. i think we will loose Roberts Fitz and Whall but most of the rest will stay following promotion.
Any new signings need to be bang on the mark.May 20, 2025 at 8:32 am #304835How can you let Beck go when he signed an 18 month contract, can’t imagine some other numpty coming in for him can you.
You could cancel his contract (whether ‘by mutual consent’, as sometimes happens, or not).
May 20, 2025 at 9:39 am #304841There’s going to be some players that, however much they’d like to stay, could very well be offered better terms elsewhere – I’m thinking Whitehall and Roberts.
As professional footballers, their heads or their agents heads will ultimately rule over their hearts.May 20, 2025 at 9:55 am #304843There’s going to be some players that, however much they’d like to stay, could very well be offered better terms elsewhere – I’m thinking Whitehall and Roberts.
As professional footballers, their heads or their agents heads will ultimately rule over their hearts. It’s always been that way. So I think we’re in for some heartbreak this summer.
May 20, 2025 at 10:20 am #304847Wonder if Roberts injury will make clubs wary given his previous record.
May 20, 2025 at 10:41 am #304849He was jumping up and down spraying the champagne* freely enough on Sunday!
*given our financial situation probably Prosecco.
May 20, 2025 at 11:01 am #304851Nothing wrong with a bit of Cava. Some are better than Champagne. The French will tell you that.

Wouldn’t have thought so after this season, but I’d be concerned about his current injury if I were a potential buyer.
May 20, 2025 at 11:10 am #304853If and when he goes I hope there’s a general understanding and acceptance and less of the negative histrionics that followed Butterfield’s exit for far too long last season.
I won’t hold my breath though. I can already envisage ‘the Board should have fought tooth and nail to keep him!!!!’

May 20, 2025 at 11:51 am #304859Pretty sure Fitz will leave based on rumour and a couple of recent SM interviews in which he was very cagey about the future / career.
May 20, 2025 at 11:53 am #304861… the negative histrionics that followed Butterfield’s exit for far too long last season…
From the fans or from a clearly economical-with-the-truth Mrs B ..?!
May 20, 2025 at 12:30 pm #304862No from the club Apollo.
Whitehall didn’t have a n agent when he signed for us can’t say about Roberts very few do in non league.
Hilton only spent £5000 on agents when in the NL the skinflint against Yorks £128,000, and £110,000 this last season. More than some of NLN teams budgets.

May 22, 2025 at 10:26 am #304927Billy has signed another 1 year contract with Donny this week.
Can’t see the club bring Colclough back after his previous off-field activities
May 22, 2025 at 2:03 pm #304939watched both the York v Oldham and FGR v Southend PO games and twas dam fine football on show ..if thats the standard we are up against next season its gonna be a long hard season especially if too many of our main players leave .. im guessing we will get the scores on the doors next week for what is arguably one of the most important retained released lists in the clubs history.
Rumours abound .. wage caps and players linked to moves , we just have to wait n see what left in the mix.May 22, 2025 at 9:20 pm #304951Who is actually under contract for next season do we know for sure?
Officially there wasn’t many. I think SCALES, EVANS and BECK. There are 5 others with no date shown BARROWS, DENTON, BROGAN, ROWLEY and FISHBURN. 11 out of contract June 2025. But seems we have options on 8 or 9 of the others from that total 16.
I think 7/8 to leave.

Looking bleak if 7 or 8 depart … i know he is under contract but rumours about a club after Evans also not sure i think it was Barnet but may be wrong.
