It’s now widely presumed that there is severe division at board level, turmoil even. This unity stance for public image doesn’t seem to wash like it did months ago – and I wonder how a four Director matchday walkabout would go down now? Very soon all of the goodwill of the last 18 months is going to be lost due to the fallout around the FC100K, Smoking Goat and MerchLabs debacles, and whatever else.
So what would you like to happen next?
I’d like to hear from the Directors we presume are causing the issues, and of course the CEO. I’d like them to explain their vision for the future. They may have a lot of value to say, a lot of good ideas – but you’d never know as everything at the moment seems to be so clandestine, and the Club’s PR is totally collapsing.
April 4, 2025 at 9:45 pm #301697Whenever we see/hear of turmoil behind the scenes, Sharp always crops up. Also don’t forget that C.E.O Roberts is a mate of Sharp’s. Make of that what you will.

Agreed – but I’m suggesting that 50% of that could actually be snowballing poor reputation and really bad PR running ahead of facts. He might have something worthwhile to say. If so, he should say it.

Agree with this and would much rather hear it via the two Matt’s than the Four Stooges.

April 5, 2025 at 2:29 am #301714Don’t hold your breath. Turnbull went with a terse official statement, then the Goat was sidelined on community day, FC100000 fiasco and now merch labs dropped like a stone. I can’t recall Roberts officially saying anything about anything and I’m not sure I’d even recognise him if he walked passed me.
April 5, 2025 at 8:42 am #301724Sharp and Roberts wouldn’t be welcome in the Dre again, dont think it will be to long before they’re not welcome anywhere in the ground.
April 5, 2025 at 8:44 am #301726Was not impressed that as a club who needs experience to get the club on the up again that we hired ‘a trainee’ who had done a course and was part time at the start [this may have changed now].
But do not think our engagement with the fans is improving. Looking at some recent League club accounts 23/24 I think we need to be a little more cautious and the concern about affording better players for a higher level – well let us wait until we know where we are.
April 5, 2025 at 8:50 am #301730Gonna be an hard sell for them if we don’t go up, blame will probably aimed at the club rather than Butler.
Promotion is essential more than ever now imo.April 5, 2025 at 8:55 am #301733Mates rates… CEO.
If Sharp & Aitkenshead resign and want their loans back then StuMaw is gunna have to flog a hell of a lot more scratch cards or get clever with his airbrushing & filtering on his instakilo site.

He’ll have to set up an Only Fans.

As for being unwelcome, they’ve shown with the Goat banning order it’s actually you who are guests in their Kingdom and not the other way round…

April 5, 2025 at 9:16 am #301743Surely if they leave the club at the moment they know there’s no money to repay their loans otherwise they wouldn’t have needed to give said loans in the first place.
Could liquidate the club but there’s still no assets to sell.
Would just have to wait a wee bit.April 5, 2025 at 9:30 am #301747Don’t hold your breath. He’ll be the one with a bag over his head looking the other way and whistling.

There’ s absolutely no proof at all that Roberts is a mate of Sharpe’s that has been brought in. In fact the talk was completely contrary to that .
I personally think George is getting a bad rap, he’s a decent bloke and put his money where his mouth is without wanting any accolades and wanting to be in the background.
Sharpe on the other hand I fancy him to be Napoleon to Michelle’s Snowball if this plays out the way it seems to be going .
Roberts just seems to not understand he’s come to a medium sized town that is very connected , if we don’t know somebody the guy next door most likely will so there will be no secrets and treating people badly like they have Beadle will be known .Perhaps if it was his own doorstep he wouldn’t be so ready to shit on it.
Getting rid of Goat and Beadle might not be the worst thing he does , certainly many agree it needed doing but, there’s ways of going about things and reputations count in a small town if you want help in the future.April 5, 2025 at 10:12 am #301751The few people there who can ‘read the room’ are probably thinking about the other half ‘give them enough rope…’ at the moment, hence it playing out the way it is with continued PR disasters etc.
April 5, 2025 at 10:36 am #301754Let’s not hear from any of them!
I’ve personally heard enough from Aitkenhead to last me a lifetime, he’s a nasty man with a huge chip on his shoulder.
As for Sharp, he cares for nobody apart from himself, I’d be happy to never see his face at the club again.
Roberts, spoke to him many times, comes across well but the phrase “smiling assassin” comes to mind.
IMO, whilst these three remain at the club things will only get worse.
I expect massive changes in the summer, both on and off the pitch.1 user thanked author for this post.
