Surprised we haven’t started contract talks with him. I know it is only January but judging post match comments the supporters rate him very highly and if we are going for promotion then stability is a must both now and next season. Certainly his comments seemed to show he cares for the club and appreciates the supporters making him feel at home.
January ia a difficult and potentialy divisive time for contract talks. If we open talks with Rowley and others we want to keep but not others that we don’t want to keep beyond the end of their contracts in summer, will the latter group still play at their best to help the promotion push or down tools because they’ve no future here? Also, without knowing which division we’ll be in, can AB be sure who he wants to keep/release?
With Connor recruited and should Joe extend his stay perhaps a 2yr with an option would fit well, could show Oli Ewing our intention. I realise he wants league football but these club moves may persuade him to do it here.
