I posted about this in response to the latest (Hartlepool) match vlog posting on the fans’ FB group. (I rarely post there). As it has been removed, I am repeating the post here. I think it’s an important issue, but the other place seems to want to sweep the issue under the carpet. See below.
“Disappointing that a chant that is most associated with the likes of Tommy Robinson supporters and Britain First was not only heard but also left in the edited version.”

December 28, 2025 at 1:50 pm #314640Yep, which includes calling out those kind of associations among parts of our fanbase. If you’re okay with that, you’re entitled to your view.

December 28, 2025 at 1:54 pm #314641Stopped watching it when 15 year olds baiting Tamworth coppers outside a pub became a big part of it.

December 28, 2025 at 3:17 pm #314647I don’t watch them ,I looked at the 1st one and didn’t like the style of it.I looked at one and he seemed to enjoy a bunch of baiting coppers .I don’t expect much better from him or his other IronHour cronies.
December 28, 2025 at 3:25 pm #314648Aye, I’ll stick to watching the football.

Precisely the reason after 25 yrs overseas other than the footy i have no real buzz to ever come back ..
Who knows Mr Robinson , Farage may have a point ..
I remember the UK before all this political correction bollocks and the mass immigration / invasion of so many “refugees” 555 .. a term most with a molicule of intelligence knows is absolute diddlydonk.
i look forward to Ironarmy match vlogs and well done to Gareth for doing them , a great way for overseas fans to follow the club.

December 28, 2025 at 4:33 pm #314652A little ironic IFA. An immigrant to Thailand bemoaning immigrants in the country you left behind.
December 28, 2025 at 4:40 pm #314653I am not sure what this has got to do with the thread’s theme.

December 28, 2025 at 4:45 pm #314654I sometimes watch them to get an early sight of the match highlights. I can only assume the decision to leave in the offending chant was deliberate. Still, it seems the club is happier to cosy up with the vlog “curator” than those elected to represent the fans.
December 28, 2025 at 5:19 pm #314656Has anyone been elected to represent the fans?..

Is the above the reason you’re not coming back?
December 28, 2025 at 5:21 pm #314658Ironfromafar can you think of anywhere that men of “fighting age” go to exploit young women?
December 28, 2025 at 5:37 pm #314659I can.
Rotherham, Rochdale, and Telford just for starters.December 28, 2025 at 6:14 pm #314660“Disappointing that a chant that is most associated with the likes of Tommy Robinson supporters and Britain First was not only heard but also left in the edited version.”
At what 0:00 can this chant be heard saleiron? Rattled through it but didn’t catch anything I thought might be it. Admittedly I’m not that familiar with The chants of those groups and only gleaned the vlog. I’m intrigued to know.
December 28, 2025 at 6:19 pm #314661About 20 secs from the end Deerey.

Absolutely not .. i moved here totally legally 25 yrs ago , passed all the requirements owned and sold 3 businesses , learned the language and embraced the culture .. zero benefits free hotels telephones or medical care i have taken care of my self and family throughout my time here.

Not coming back because Britain is broken .. shit weather , pathetic government , crazy taxes , cost ov basic living food utilities etc i could never retire there and have the same quality of life as i do here in retirement..is that enough reason ??
Ironfromafar can you think of anywhere that men of “fighting age” go to exploit young women?
As well as the places AWG mentions .. add anywhere in Asia .. alas here its mostly confined to the tourist hot spots and IMO older divorcees looking for some slap n tickle with young and very willing ladies trying to find security and love if lucky .. both ways. but pleased dont get sucked into the anti Thailand rethoric all to often banded about, live outside the main tourist areas in most Isan provinces its is a fantastic place to live and call home.
i do miss the live SUFC footy with GP being less than 3 miles from my home and not missing home or away fixture 3 years before i left the UK… not enough to get me back the state the country is in.

This was a tourist information post by IFA .. HAPPILY RETIRED in Isan North Eastern Thailand

December 28, 2025 at 7:15 pm #314664Hi Saleiron, I reckon it’s just the same melody, or maybe I just hope. I’m not sure they know the historical context or songs to that particular melody .I’d like to think not.
I’m not Anti Thailand, just the dirty old and young men sex tourists. Most of whom love to bang on about Britain’s isolated problems.December 28, 2025 at 7:44 pm #314666No problem you being a legal immigrant in Thailand IFA. Nor do I have a problem with the estimated 95% of immigrants that come here legally.
December 28, 2025 at 7:50 pm #314667Just look at the crowd Danny Stamp was with and I’m sure you’ll agree they did.
Not saying they were singing it though!
Football chants are just that, many offend get over it, appeals now to ban poverty chanting ffs, why are Scouse fans so touchy about everything they’re supposed to have a sense of humour, like f they have.December 28, 2025 at 7:59 pm #314668About 20 secs from the end Deerey.
“10 more years 10 more years Oli Ewing, 10 more years 10 more years I say…”??
If that’s it then I agree with the initial reply in this thread…get a life!

Oh, that one. Don’t think it’s an issue if that’s the words. Yes, the tune has been appropriated by right wing and far right groups in recent history, but ultimately it’s the tune from ‘Sing Hosanna to the King of Kings’, or ‘Give Me Oil in My Lamp’..Oil being an anagram of Oli. The far right don’t own the song. If others want to appropriate it for an innocent football chant, it seems fair to me. In fact, I’d prefer it if they did reclaim it.

December 28, 2025 at 8:49 pm #314670The offending chant was “Keir Starmer’s a w****r” to the tune of Seven Nation Army. This is the one you’ll hear at Tommy Robinson rallies and from Britain First rentamobs at demos outside hotels housing asylum seekers. We all know the sentiment behind it. Also, whatever its shortcomings (and there are many imo), those chanting it might need to be reminded that this government saved our town from certain oblivion back in April.

December 28, 2025 at 9:44 pm #314674I don’t think we can censor fans for singing a song disparaging the PM. I don’t think Iron Army have done anything untoward in having that aired. However, I’d rather fans didn’t bring such politics into chants. After all, supporting the club should be people for all views and what unites is being a fan of the same club. After all, the same people would say “don’t bring politics into football” if others chanted anything against something they supported.

December 28, 2025 at 9:51 pm #314675And you need reminding the Tories under Johnson paid the bills while in administration for over a year that saved the steelworks from oblivion after Greybull, if it wasn’t for Labours green agenda they’d would have been no need for the Chinese to end buying the coal and iron ore and forcing Labour to act in the first place and who only acted through Reform pushing the issue. Did we ever here from our MP at the time, no not a bloody peep was left to reform and Martin Vickers the tory to lead the fight to save our steel..
( more than likely they’ll end up shutting the blast furnaces and end virgin steel in this country knowing Labour) twas also the Tories who agreed to fund 4/5ths of the money to buy the ground from Swanny.
If that’s the chant I hope they keep it going if anyone deserves it he certainly does.December 28, 2025 at 9:55 pm #314677And you think that any other party would have taken British Steel into national ownership?

That’s certainly one way of looking at it but the reality is likely more complex and nuanced than that. And anyhow, it’s drifting in to non-football now.
Just an afterthought-are you not an advocate for keeping politics out of football anymore awaywego?
