One of the first signs is denying freedom of speech. The next is to impose non- truth as truth. I could go on ,but the signs are worrying don’t you think?

With free speech comes responsibilities; responsibilities to not engage in hate speech and act like a complete a-hole. Well it ought to do.

Sounds like organised religion to me.

Blasphemy Laws, fairy tales about creation and miracles.

Yes, I find blind faith* worrying.

*Not to be confused with the 60’s band of the same name who were rather good.

If you want an example of how totalitarianism takes control look no further than Trump’s USA and project 25, it’s well under way.

Yes bill chooses his subject matter very carefully whilst ignoring the orange faced threat from across the pond, the fact he’s a world leader is very worrying particularly how he invents problems in Democratic run cities to deflect from his own mishandling of the USA economy . He’s also breaking the law with his misuse of the National Guard being deployed in such a political way.

If you need another example of totalitarianism here try reading the Ridley Plan.

Is this is a reference to Graham Linehan being arrested for posts on X, that’s not what he posted. Not that I agree with his arrest, if its true it was linked to certain posts he claims it was related to.

The current government have nothing to do with Linehan’s shameful arrest. The police are following legislation that predates the government by 2 decades and is something out of date. I agree that it is too much, and people like Linehan should not be arrested for opinions that make others uncomfortable, but it isn’t dictator Starmer shutting up free speech. Something needs to be done about it though. The online world has brought us challenges in dealing with issues like incitement, but more leeway is needed.

Memes stop people getting into the country, Trump taking over DC and threatening other states’ rights with the National Guard, sucking up to Putin (whose alliance with tyranny was evident this week with the show of force with China and North Korea), raging at Stephen Colbert for comedy (whether you like the humour or not), stopping trans people from serving in the military and punishing companies or research bodies for wrongthink. Trump’s America is certainly looking more authoritarian. I hope JD Vance gives us another lecture on our values, while eroding freedoms back in his own country.

Also, a lot of the cringeworthy arse kissing around the cabinet and taking at least partial ownership of private companies like Intel sounds more like Marxism to me than anything evil socialists Obama and Biden did.

Also right wing media in the USA is ignoring Trump’s ongoing health issues, he doesn’t look a well man at all and disappeared off radar for three days recently, unheard of by a national leader particularly in the land of the free. His lopsided smile is being linked to a slight stroke and his swollen ankles plus increased bruising on his hands is nowadays a common occurrence but don’t worry folks he’s fine the best he’s ever been, lol.
