Great 3 points lads and UTI etc etc etc BUT ………unbelievable how we managed to come away with the win tonight. Thank whoever one believes in for Morecambe’s awful finishing and prowess in our box. Have never seen such a poor performance deliver three highly valuable points on a night where we were lazy, disjointed, seemingly blaming each other, and so lacking in the quality of passing and movement that we’ve been used to so far this season.

Probably a minority voice but I’ll say it – what on earth does Whitehall add upfront (apart from worldly free kicks like tonight !). Seriously, if you watch his movement, his body language and overall commitment to the team he just does not look interested. I’ve heard him defended on the basis that he’s a shithouse, and OUR shithouse but I’m not convinced he’s a player I would want in the dressing room. I may be wrong (often am) but he comes across as an egocentric and the last player I’d want to put up with as either a teamate or a manager.

Credit to AB for managing him, and credit to DW for the goals he does score but I’m nailing my colours to the mast, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near my team. Anyway that’s an opinion; I’m sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, who disagree so I’ll wait for the barage that follows ……..

    Stats say different.

Only one in NL top scorers list to average a goal a game. Scores every 84 minutes. His nearest rival is Dieseruvwe with a goal every 101 minutes. Second highest in the assists table.

You saw what happened when Butler left him on the bench on Saturday.

Sooner have him in our team than have to play against him.

But I’m sure Mark Beck is a nicer guy.

Stats would be even better if his goal vs Wealdstone counted.

44 goals in 74 starts for the Iron (87 appearances in total), suggesting he does a lot more than score the odd “worldly” free kick.

Was Beck there last night on the periphery I doubt it.
Whitehall more often is, seen the supporters bus off when injured at times, if he’s there for them he’s there for the team as well, did commentating at Buxton obviously when injured and made himself available for the fans to have a crack with, hardly a player you see who wouldn’t fit in the dressing room..
And finally he chose twice to play for us that’s the kind of player every manager wants in there team, not like everybody’s heroes Haysy who continually buggered off for the money, clearly Danny loves the fans and the club despite having dicks that pull him down like 64.

True. The first half brought tears to the eyes and the second was not significantly better.
BUT – highly tuned pro sportsmen can often sag when: running too many races; fighting in boxing matches too close together AND play too many football matches in too short a time.
I was half expecting this last night – blame 3 games in rapid succession. (Again.)

Whitehall wasn’t alone in looking leggy. The defence was all over the place and the passing/distribution left a lot to be desired.
I fear for the players entering winter when playing on that pitch. The pitch will get heavy and uneven, lead to injuries and quite frankly is an embarrassment at any level. I would be talking with the NL to move some fixtures to try and get some areas relaid (if we have enough time left) because another Barrows injury isn’t far away. Morecambe looked a good side and I hope they climb the table, they surely will if they continue to play like they did last night. I’ll take the 3 points.

Aye, forget supposed ‘goalkeeping crisis’ and any issues with Whitehall, at this rate the pitch could be ‘Nightmare on Jack Brownsword Way’ before Christmas.

DW did enough last night, same with the rest of the squad.
Morecambe weren’t a bad outfit tbh and if that attempted lob had not been saved by RW things could have been different.
We dug in and got a steady 3 points which is all we want. However they come.

The pitch is a mess and now the autumn is in full swing and temperatures will drop it won’t knit. The roots have not taken hence the reason it’s just peeling up.
For me it was not watered enough when it mattered.
We had a dry summer and it wasn’t watered sufficiently and not enough moisture was present to allow a good root growth.

That’s two seasons in a row. Hopefully 3rd time lucky as this can’t go on especially when we’ve got one of the best squad/footballer team in years!

Surely won’t happen again after last season’s Weekender fiasco and now James is GM.
