HMS PTL has arrived at it’s destination as predicted. Faced choppy waters, but completed the voyage to the promise land.
COME ON IRON !
May 18, 2025 at 8:27 pm #304609I’m pleased for AB – he got a lot right. Indeed, player fitness was what got us through today.
However, I was totally fed up with the ref who so nearly cost us.
That we tried anti-Alfreton tactics and were successful leaves me somewhat staggered.
That was not pretty.
Mebbe now, we can abandon such dubious strategies.
Why we played so little football today, was beyond me.
If those brainless yobs don’t yet get what was really happening with such crass behaviour – perhaps someone could ‘explain’ the matter to them!May 18, 2025 at 8:59 pm #304612The game was god awful, but a win is a win. That ref today was suffering with “star man syndrome”. Everything was about him and made an already bad game even worse. Blowing up for anything and everything. Ref was giving out cards like penny sweets.
We got the rub of the green though because Denton should have really been sent off.
Absolute awful referee. Glad to be out of this cesspit.

Good job you stuck with Butler instead of sticking the boot in when the chips were down. Look and learn.

May 19, 2025 at 6:10 am #304641DM, if he had continued in the same vein – no way would we have been rejoicing today.
Maybe it was fan pressure; perhaps board pressure or personal revelation. Who knows? All that matters is that he began steering the Iron boat in a better direction.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 19, 2025 at 9:25 am #304658Perhaps it was a young manager in his first serious managerial role learning on the job and adjusting accordingly, the guy has done what Jimmy Dean couldn’t he has got us promoted, time to cut him some slack and just say ” thanks Andy “.

Calls for him to go, chants about his football being shite plus the demoralising insults and the abuse he endured were not deserved.
Maybe it’s got nothing to do with the football geniuses on socials

Even when the football was shite?
May 19, 2025 at 9:49 am #304675You’re allowed to complain when the football is shite. It should never spill over into personal abuse, though.

May 19, 2025 at 10:21 am #304676I thought what was said about AB was on the whole abuse ,it seems people can’t be”passionate” without abuse anymore.

I’d tend to agree with this. I’d suggest that there are a lot of emotionally unintelligent people around the Club, unable to process the details or nuance of situations and unable to express themselves with calm, reason and respect.

She should have won the Blue Ribband, but instead limped into port three weeks later.
Now some of the crew will no doubt jump ship and Captain Butler will have to send out his Press Gang to put together a company worthy of steering her around the Cape of Vanarama and into the EFL Ocean.
May 19, 2025 at 10:48 am #304681Some seem to think that’s a prerequisite for the ‘Fans Voice’ or whatever it’s called Apollo. What’s happening with that anyhow?

Anyone catch a glimpse of Seaman Staines on the pitch after the whistle? Can’t keep his gormless fizzog out of a camera for long.

I think there is some difficult stuff around fans and fan groups likely to come out during the next few weeks, once the good feeling has dissipated a bit.

DM, it’s all fine and well being condescending in regards to Butler coming good, but let’s not forget he geared up a squad to play a formation which everyone saw didn’t work and was stubborn to say the least. If Butler carried on the direction he was on, he likely would have been sacked.
Butler came good and whether pressure was put on him from those behind the scenes for him to change, only they know, but he got there in the end. I have no problem with Butler and glad to see us go up, but don’t make out that people had no reason to doubt him.
Putting that to one side, I’m just happy for the club. That league was god awful and never want to be in it again.
May 19, 2025 at 12:11 pm #304697And another who completely misses the point. And I’ve never made out people had no reason to doubt him. I have a problem with premature calls for his head and those that abused and demoralised him. If you were capable of reading and understanding, you might comprehend that Pep.
May 19, 2025 at 12:23 pm #304700Everybody misses the point where you’re concerned as you always think you’re right.
May 19, 2025 at 12:34 pm #304701I actually don’t think I’m right very often, that’s the irony. Gobshites like you calling for sacking the manager the minute we hit rough patches gets on my tits though. Evidence is already showing some of you will never learn. Deluded.
