Administrative error has led to them receiving notice of a incoming points deduction which confirms there relegation.

Matlock Town FC can today confirm that our club has been notified of a pending points deduction due to an administrative error made by our club secretary at the Hyde United fixture.

The imminent punishment, namely the deduction of the three points gained from the fixture, will, unfortunately, seal our inevitable fate with relegation to the NPL Division One confirmed.

Everyone at the club is extremely upset at how this season has ended, none more so than our club secretary responsible for the error who has taken full responsibility and who has issued his unreserved apologies.

The penalty will be received due to playing an ineligible player, namely Joshua Smith, whose youth loan from Accrington Stanley had ended. This was not picked up by us nor his parent club until after the fixture due to him missing several weeks previously through injury.

Please be mindful at this difficult time that our staff are predominantly volunteers who dedicate large parts of their lives to the club. This is a human error and we are all saddened by our season’s outcome.

All club members will today receive an email with the options for moving the club forward next season. These options are a continuation of fan-led ownership or the changeover to the private ownership model providing investment.

We ask all members to read the e-mail carefully, make their decision and return their vote as a matter of urgency.

Fact?He came in ,lied about the tax bill,used false names and sodded off with the club in a worst state than when he arrived. Your crooked mate bought the club for a quid or so on the understanding he’d sort the debt.Instead of doing that he bought some wooden signs and put them on someone else’s land and laughably locked the gate like an inner city squatter.

Why are you still trying to blame him for your problems?…. you have the best players in the league, the best fans (met quite a few) in the league, best attendances, and you still approached games against teams on probably 20% of your budget defensively?….. like Liverpool playing a pub team and playing for a draw…. you set a manager on who didn’t want his players to cross the halfway line… but took you months to get him to change his tactics… wasting loads of points before halfway through the season…..

Small non league club?…. a sustainable model just about envied by every visiting team, champion league standard changing rooms and dug out, hospitality breath taking, best pitch in the league, club full every night, 34 kids teams many won their league this year, best catering in the league, no squabbling management, best club volunteer’s….. er, and only one league below you, and maybe not if we get promoted?….having a big club like you is not much good when your playing in the same leagues as us is it?….. the only difference being is you have more fans to moan to, about your predicament, big fish in a small bowl that you can not get out of, we are a small fish in a big bowl we are comfortable in… and not moaning like you lot!
