January 10, 2026 at 11:17 am #315238I did wonder when i got up, in the minus tempratures down here.
January 10, 2026 at 11:23 am #315240I was at Tesco at 7pm,their car park was an ice rink,I got back into my car and came home
January 10, 2026 at 12:44 pm #315242The weather forecast from last Friday when the Sutton game was called off suggested today’s game would be also off..
Like I said I would have been trying to play it at Bottersford on their all weather pitch but buy na buy tis what it is.
Can’t expect anyone down there to think out the box unless it’s a lincs senior cup match or a game on new years day can we.
On a serious note about time the Fa consider altering the rules on postponements, pitches that are playable on the day before a game can’t be postponed just because of the forecast weather bloody stupid, cost Bristol rovers dearly last week, team travelled day before with hotel bill and rovers coaches already on route due to the distance, not like forecasting hasn’t improved since rules first made.January 10, 2026 at 1:06 pm #315243If they did that plenty would be complaining about the inaccuracies of weather forecasts.
January 10, 2026 at 1:23 pm #315244Sure they would Deerey but no money would be lossed from clubs or fans.
January 10, 2026 at 1:43 pm #315245Factor in the corruption opportunities too (i.e. calling off games unnecessarily due to injury pile ups) and you can see why it is what it is.
January 10, 2026 at 1:45 pm #315246Rather than blaming the FA, point the finger at those clubs that exploit situations
January 10, 2026 at 2:09 pm #315248Not blaming the fa just asking them to look at the rules again they’ve changed many other rules down the years.
What like sheff u and Charlton who both had underground heating yet both our games against them postponed.January 10, 2026 at 2:16 pm #315249Tell me about it. We rocked up at The Valley wondering why it was so quiet!

January 10, 2026 at 2:25 pm #315251On the train when it got called off, similar day like today to be honest, still playing on park pitches in Greenwich I remember.
And you say about clubs exploiting the situation lol.
Quits Deerey.January 10, 2026 at 3:56 pm #315258Local weather said that air temp would be between 1c and 3c with a small snow shower around 8am or pam and temp near Zero.
Frost started not much after midnight and remained so and temp indicated as 1c. So I think they trusted the met office a tad too much.

Cheltenham worst one for me, got to pub near ground and started drinking a pint to be told it’s off
Or getting finished early at work for once and coming down Donny road to be told the Hereford home game was off

Quits Deerey.Walked from Greenwich to The Valley after a few pints there. Didn’t pass any pitches along the dock road. Bloody travesty that postponement. Still never been to The Valley and was looking forward to it that day.
January 11, 2026 at 9:19 am #315267Exeter in late 80s ,winds and storms, got to 18 miles outside Exeter and rang mate’s dad who checked Ceefax for us, cancelled. Went straight through to Torquay for the weekend
January 11, 2026 at 9:29 am #315269Brings to mind away matches at Wolves and Southend. Both night games called off just as we were going to leave the pub for the grounds.
Only the the very lightest of frost on both evenings so were as surprising as they were annoying particularly the Wolves one as they had undersoil heating. Maybe they didn’t switch it on while they were in the Championship.
January 11, 2026 at 10:27 am #315272Spectator safety is a consideration in postponements. Pitch might be playable but if stadium surrounds are icy and deemed “unsafe” then it’s game off sometimes.
