I’m not a fan of these drip feed announcements, particularly when it comes to announcing a player is leaving the club. The bad news ( that a key player is leaving) appears to be balanced by the news that someone is staying oh and we have signed someone as well! Interesting to see how they handle the Cal Robert’s situation? How many signings will balance his departure? How many other departures would balance him staying? Maybe that’s the sort of intrigue the club is looking to create. I don’t like it!
As James Moody said on Twitter, the Club announces immediately as and when they can. Better than waiting until every bit of business is concluded and then putting out a list – that could be weeks away.
I think Phils’issue might be to do with announcing at 3.00 “there will be an announcement at 4.00.”

Good to have the warning, then you can know the news as soon as it’s public?
I find the polls and teaser campaigns a bit tedious, as I said the other day. However, it’s partly due to being jaded by having done them myself for years in a working capacity and tbh, virtually every club actively engaged in positive marketing and Comms is doing it. So really, just a Meldrewesque gripe from me and if it’s working for the club, I don’t have any major beef.
