Moves from Altrincham after they met a buy out clause.
Always thought he was a good player who lost his way. We used to polish rough diamonds but those days long passed.
Flattered to deceive his whole career – check out his goals and assists record.
Abysmal for someone with his talent.
Was Paul Cook manager at Wigan before Colclough came to us?, maybe that’s the connection if so.
Always thought he was a good player who lost his way.
When we bought him from Crewe he was known to have “issues”. He also had a bit of flair about him, so Hurst wouldn’t play him.
Whatever anyone thought of Hurst he was/is a professional football manager. If you didn’t deliver you didn’t play.
Dropping Van Veen created a professional response. He started working and delivering every game.
Coclough responded by sulking and indulging in off field shenanigans.
If Swann had stuck with one of the proven professional managers he employed (Alexander, Robbins or Hurst) instead of the constant search for a yes man we would still be a league club.
Back to Colclough – it would be great to see him deliver for a few seasons before he is too old. Personally would not have him back here if he played for free. Wilson has matched his goals and assists record for the Iron already
