With you on this one 64 his goals at the end of the season took us to the home playoff and promotion but we can’t afford him to be weak for so much of the season.
Definitely one to get rid of unless he does the same again.

Butler is between a rock and a hard place here.

Players like Beck and Carlton look like NLN/S is their level but you can’t blame AB for showing some faith in the promotion squad.

It was always going to be the case that once injuries and suspensions kicked in that the second string players needed to step up.

Doesn’t seem to be happening at the moment.

I have a lot of time for Carlton – he’s not having the best season and it doesn’t seem to quite be happening for him, but he’s definitely trying hard when he gets his moments. He’s unpredictable and exciting and can play ‘off the cuff’ in ways that Dawson doesn’t seem likely to, and Beck seems completely unable to.

Thought he looked lightweight up top against Braintree and his first touch isn’t great either, bags of energy and enthusiasm but you need more than that at this level, players not stepping up is deffo a problem for AB this season.

Bit early to say he’s not having the best season Apollo, he didn’t get his first goal till mid February last season lol.
Being the same wherever he’s played at.

First touch is an absolute horror. Him, Beck, Dawson all not good enough.

I would rather have Braintree’s subs than ours. They changed the game, ours did not. Agree with all of you, Dawson, Beck and include Carlton and Eze, just not good enough for the national league.
What does Butler see in them that most supporters don’t, sorry AB, a fair criticism, please don’t stare at me…

I suspect it’s more to do with budget then what AB see’s in them Bhuna5, good signings in Horton, Ewen , Rose and Howe is doing ok but those new good signings will have probably left the budget on the edge, the players deemed not good enough mentioned are probably what AB had to put up with to make the numbers up. As disappointing as it sounds midtable pre season was a goal most agreed was achievable and this squad when it’s struggling with injuries as it is now will probably only achieve that, good starts don’t always mean great seasons.

    Dawson is clearly good enough.

The fact that he’s not ripping up trees may be down to other factors.

He had 45 minutes against Truro where he put himself about, scored a cracker and looked like a real centre forward.
Sadly he looks like a man worrying about getting injured in all of his other appearances. May well be psychological and unconscious fear and with his history I can understand that but for all his undoubted talent he is not a lot of good to the team at present even as a sub.

Hope for his sake he can sort it and we see the real deal at some point.

Forgot to add it’s surely got to be Howe and S-F for 90 minutes while Whitehall is injured unless the game is either properly won or lost.

After a decent start Dec has only managed 1 goal in his last 11 league games. Needs to find his shooting boots again and really should have put the game out of sight on Sat with that header!

I’m also yet to see much evidence that Dawson is “clearly good enough”. Other than that 45 minute spell against one of the worst teams I’ve seen at Glanford Park, he’s done literally nothing of note in an Iron shirt.

I’m wondering If Dawsons previous serious injuries are not helping his fitness and along with heavier pitches arriving the rest of the season could be a struggle for him.
