Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s called off.

    Forecast is awful

I remember going to a Carlisle game by stopping off in Leeds and taking the Settle- Carlisle line to please a train-fan friend.
LONG time ago – appalling weather, horrendous playing conditions – but I think we won. I got soaked to the skin and somehow dodged pneumonia.
Anyone remember what season that might have been?

Is that the game where the Ref was going to abandon the game but Stevie Lister told him in so many words of what the outcome would be if he did?
Think it was Feb 1989? We won 3-0.

My memory thought it was actually raining pretty heavy during the game?
I do remember the farcical conditions though.

Thinking about it – I think the Steve Lister ‘conversation’ with the ref was at Torquay… old age!

Another massive game tomorrow and i see the bookies have made Carlisle slight favourites .. Scunny being tagged as “Dark Horses” for promotion at AAGP and Carlisle with Mark Hughes and a huge budget so its a hard one to call.
    A win would be huge
A draw realistically the safe bet
A defeat would be deflating to say the least.

Carlisle got battered by York and SUFC just beat York but by all accounts they cant play as bad as the did that night as were atrocious.

My weekly tenner is on a 1-1 draw , crappy odds so added 2 red cards in the game one for each team which scrapped it to 16/1

Carlisle have played 3 times following a midweek game so far this season:

    P3 W1 D0 L2 F4 A4

    H Rochdale 0-2
    H Truro 3-0
    A Sutton 1-2

    Likewise, we are:

    P3 W2 D1 L0 F7 A1

    A Southend 2-0
    H Truro 4-0
    A Brackley 1-1

I’ve had an acca including a win to us.
    And a separate 3-1 (20/1) to us.

    Sorry Fansy.

However, I only have a tenner per set of fixtures.

    All under control here :-)

No reason to believe they will score more than one (does anyone?), and I foresee at least two goals from us. 2-1 Iron.

These next 3 games – 2 league and 1 FA Cup – are going to be tough.

Just set a new start of season unbeaten record and the ‘fastest gun’ will want to stop that in its tracks.
Then follows our FA Cup game against a rival from last season who has a point to prove.

So best wishes to them. Stick to what works. Remember someone has to start making that move so why not us.

In Spain on holiday at the moment so missing these crucial games and having to rely on Radio Humberside online for match commentaries. It seems AB has found a good playing style of a high aggressive press without the ball, and fast forward movement with the ball. Very difficult for opponents at our level to beat that, the best they can hope is to play it themselves and then it’s down to who converts their chances. I expect Carlisle to do this, hopefully we can score early doors and make things difficult for them!

    When do they score?

    0 to 15 = 5
    16 to 30 = 2
    31 to 45 = 1

    46 to 60 = 6
    61 to 75 = 3
    75 to 90 = 6
    90 &beyond = 1

    24 goals.

Only failed to score in two games. Those two games were against (now) 2nd placed Rochdale and (now) 8th placed York.

Do they struggle against those at the business end of the table?

They seem to start fast? If we don’t concede in the first 15, then hopefully we can capitalise from 16min to half time.
Strong at the start & end of second half.
They seem to have a nap in the middle of the second half – substitutions at 60 mins and hopefully take advantage.

Now, I don’t think they’ll score against us.

    Iron 3-0 umbrians

‘having to rely on Radio Humberside online for match commentaries.’

Not a bad deal though, particularly when Torps joins Olllie. Far superior to any opposition commentary I’ve heard.

Make opponents cope with us – exactly. Good to see the formation that seems to work for SUFC in use and that pace coupled with players moving into space bearing fruit. Just got to keep ‘feet on the’ – as they say.

PS: Enjoy the rest of your holiday – raining here.

Also enjoying a break over in Spain (Menorca) and looking forward to watching on DAZN tomorrow. Hopefully the weather doesn’t stop the game and we bag the points. Going for a solid 3 -0 to the Iron. UTI

Their danger man is Regan Linney who is the joint top scorer in the division with 9 goals.

In terms of minutes played per goal scored:

    1) D. Whitehall (6) 77 mins per goal.
    2) E. Dieseruvwe (9) 91 mins pg.
    3) T. Works (4) 108 mins pg.
    4) D. Howe (5) 114 mins pg.
    5) L. Norris (4) 117 mins pg.

Great to have two players in the top 5.

Steve Lister was drinking in the Bridge Hotel after midnight the morning before that game. My mate and I assumed either he was injured or the game had been postponed. Turned out it was neither. Different times…

Andy Butler 53.85% win rate at Scunny.

Mark Hughes 41.95% win rate at Carlisle.

Has a little of the ‘Adkins Magic’ rubbed off on to Andy?
