Many of us raised eyebrows when Clarke was made captain.
Raising your hands in this day and age is stupid, especially from the team captain.
It gives referees the opportunity to become centre stage and the opposition the chance to get a player booked or sent off.
Captains are often experienced players respected by their own players, opposition players and referees, I do not get that impression about Clarke.
This is not the first time this season he has behaved outside the realms of a true leader and more like a petulent rookie in their first season.
At best adequate as a fullback. Captain and Leader no.
March 20, 2021 at 5:39 pm #203693Never a captain, played poorly at full
back slightly better at centre back but as a captain and knowing you have no centre backs fit in the club other than juniors – to do that is just brainless. They won’t rescind because he raised his arms.Hopefully he’s out at the end of the season
March 20, 2021 at 5:47 pm #203699Pure stupidity from Clarke and has left us right in the creek with no CB cover.

t it the chairmans decision to make him captain?
Ernest has a lot to answer for.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 20, 2021 at 6:08 pm #203703Pathetic reaction from him today. We could’ve played 900 minutes and Southend wouldn’t have scored except for us stupidly giving them a penalty.
March 20, 2021 at 7:38 pm #203710Clarke’s push looked very similar to what Van Veen did at Northampton away when he pushed Charlie Goode and that one was overturned.
March 20, 2021 at 11:08 pm #203714Think it will be overturned but it was a definite penalty and act of shear stupidity
March 21, 2021 at 9:51 am #203724May be judged sufficient punishment.
The histrionics of the near fatally wounded Southend player may be of use as the scream and face holding could have ‘persuaded’ Mr Lewis to be the star of the day !
Saying all that, poor leadership for sure and sad to say but end of time at GP (svs).
March 21, 2021 at 11:33 am #203730“Reacting to the penalty incident involving Jordan Clarke, he said: “Jordan has admitted to pushing him,”
It’s very good of Clarke to clear that up as it can’t have been obvious to those watching. Numpty!!
March 21, 2021 at 1:28 pm #203732Not much happy talk on this thread, you guys need to lighten up or you’ll never have a dream come true.
